Thursday, 19 January 2012Nur Otan party's Deputy chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin will be nominated to the post of Speaker in Kazakh Majilis (Parliament's lower chamber), Novosti-Kazakhstan reported referring to the source in the party.
Earlier Nigmatulin was elected as the head of the Nur Otan's parliamentary fraction.
"Nurlan Nigmatulin maintains two posts: head of the party's faction in the Parliament and deputy chairman of Nur Otan. Moreover, he will be nominated to the post of Majilis Speaker on Friday at the parliamentary session," the source said.
The first session of the parliament of fifth convocation will take place in Astana on 20 January.
On Jan. 15, Kazakhstan held parliamentary elections. According to final election results, the National Democratic Party Nur Otan, headed by the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, won 83 seats in the Majilis, the Democratic Party Ak Zhol got eight seats, while the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan - seven. |
