ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Thursday issues a draft law making 100 new legal arrangements in Turkey, a French Senate committee's rejection of a motion that would criminalize denials of the 1915 incidents, a court case on the September 12 military coup of 1980, and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi's trip to Turkey.

All newspapers wrote on a draft law that would make 100 new legal arrangements in Turkey. The draft law makes the detention of individuals harder. According to the draft law, a molotov cocktail would be considered a weapon. The draft law brings pardon to certain crimes committed by members of the media. The draft law intends to speed up the Turkish judiciary.

Dailies highlighted a French Senate committee's rejection of a motion that would criminalize denials of the 1915 incidents. The French Senate's Committee on Laws underlined that the Armenian resolution to be debated at the French Senate on January 23 was "against the French constitution and freedoms".

Dailies also highlighted a court case to begin in Ankara on the military coup of September 12, 1980. Ankara's 12th High Criminal Court said on Wednesday that the trial of former chief of General Staff and 7th President Kenan Evren and former Commander of the Turkish Air Force General Tahsin Sahinkaya would begin on April 4. A court order placed a ban on travelling overseas for both Evren and Sahinkaya.

Covering Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi's visit to Turkey, Turkiye daily wrote that talks between the European Union (EU) and Iran on Iran's nuclear program would take place in Istanbul. Turkiye daily quoted Salehi as saying "Turkey and Iran are brotherly countries. I wish that talks on our nuclear program would take place in Istanbul. We have not yet fixed a date for the talks in Istanbul".
