Georgian President’s Visit to U.S. to Underline Special Relations of Both Countries

Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili's forthcoming official visit to the U.S. and his meeting with Barack Obama will underline the special relations of both countries, Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. Temur Yakobashvili told journalists.

"As a rule, the president's official visit scheduled for Jan. 30 is culmination of interstate relations and it is happening when relations rise on specific level," Yakobashvili said. "I consider that the Georgian president's official visit will underscore the special relations, which established between the two countries and political leaders."

According to Yakobashvili, the talks will touch upon all significant spheres in the bilateral relations, including political and economic issues, cooperation in security and defense fields.

"Also the issues of assistance of Georgia's democratic developing and territorial integrity will be discussed which are actual for our country," Yakobashvili noted.
