The French media watchdog Reporters Without Borders says it is “shocked” to learn that Iran’s Supreme Court has confirmed a death sentence against website designer Saeed Malekpour, a dual Iranian-Canadian citizen.

The group says his family has said that the court made the decision under pressure from the powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Malekpour was sentenced to death last year on charges of antigovernment activities and developing adult content websites.

He was reportedly arrested in 2008 after returning to Iran to visit his ailing father.
