Ukrainian refineries imported 704,700 tons of oil from Azerbaijan in 2011 which is by 56.3 percent less than in 2010, ITAR-TASS reported with the reference to the government.

The purchase of Russian oil by Ukrainian refineries decreased by 21.5 percent to 4.7 million tons in 2011 compared to 2010.

Currently, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) carries out oil supplies on CIF conditions to the Ukraine's Kremenchug refinery, and two Western refineries - Nadvoryan and Drogobych.

SOCAR delivers oil to the Kremenchuk refinery for processing and then gets the processed oil for further sale. This system is useful for SOCAR in light of plans to open filling stations in Ukraine, as well as start bunkering operations in the country. There are several gas stations under the brand of SOCAR in Ukraine, and a major bunkering vessel has been launched into the water. According to the company's plans, about 1,000 SOCAR gas stations will be opened in Ukraine by 2025.

In 2011 gasoline production in Ukraine decreased by 8 percent to 2.8 million tons. The production of diesel oil decreased by 21.4 percent to 2.6 million tons, fuel oil - by 11.6 percent to 2 million tons.
