Kazakh Embassy Held Annual Religious Dinner in Washington

Within the preparation for the 4th Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions, which will be held in Astana in May, 2012, the Kazakh Embassy in the U.S. jointly with the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the UN has held an annual religious dinner; the Embassy's press service reports.

This event became a good tradition of the Embassy. There are discussed topical issues of the international interfaith dialogue.

U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Hannah Rosenthal, known American spiritual leader Feisal Abdul Rauf, founder of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, one of the leading rabbis of America Marc Schneier, Executive Director and Co-Founder, American Society For Muslim Advancement Daisy Khan and others - 30 participants attended the event. The main topics of the discussion were Kazakhstan and four themes: the role of a religion in the XXI century, a religion and multiculturalism, a youth and its liability in the XXI century, a religion and the role of a woman.

Kazakh Ambassador to the UN Byrganym Aitimova noted that more religious, government and public figures from all over the world consider it important to take part in the Congress.

Kazakh Ambassador to the U.S.A. Yerlan Idrissov defined priorities of Kazakhstan's activity in the field of a dialogue among civilizations as an OIC chair country.
