Thursday, 12 January 2012The outcome of plans to build a second Nuclear Power Plant, NPP, in the Danube town of Belene will finally become clear in up to three weeks, according to Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.
Speaking in an interview for the State TV, BNT, Borisov said Thursday that the NPP project will be either approved or rejected based on the assessment of its efficiency, price and safety.
On other topics, the PM voiced hope that by March a majority will be formed in the Parliament to pass constitutional amendments that would cap the budget deficit at 3%.
He further revealed that he would initiate legislative changes aiming at equaling the length of annual paid leave of State servants with the one of those who work for the private sector.
"Bulgarians who are employed by the State administration have a warrantless long leave. There would be huge resistance, but I hope the business and the labor unions would support us," Borisov told the hosts.
He also commented on the resignation of the Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, SOS, Andrey Ivanov, saying the latter had inflicted tensions around his post and had to go.
On Wednesday, Borisov's Deputy and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, declared that the change stemmed only from the results of the local elections and refused to comment on details of Ivanov's actions and it they were motives for him quitting.
"We don't have lobbies in the party," Borisov stressed in the interview, thus rebutting rumors of lobbies at SOS.
