Program of Azerbaijani FM’s Visit to New York Announced

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will attend meetings of the UN Security Council (UNSC) today and tomorrow.

Azerbaijan has been elected a nonpermanent member of the UNSC for 2012-2013.

During his stay in New York Mammadyarov is planned to attend a briefing of the Security Council under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister of South Africa on Jan.11, as well as take part and address the discussions "UN and African Union" at the Security Council under the chairmanship of South African President Jacob Zuma on Jan.12, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's spokesman Elman Abdullayev told Trend.

In addition to the meetings, Mammadyarov is also planned to visit an official dinner to be organized by South Africa in honor of the UN Secretary General.

During the visit, Mammadyarov will also hold meetings with Colombian Foreign Minister and secretaries of state of Germany and Portugal.
