Tuesday, 10 January 2012The ban imposed by Norwegian authorities on mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik's mail correspondence and visits is lifted on Monday.
Breivik is now allowed to have visitors under police control, Aftenposten has clarified. The prison authorities still have the right to refuse Breivik a visit for safety reasons.
"A lot of people have contacted the defense attorneys with the request to visit Behring Breivik. Many inquiries are also sent to the jail, as well as directly to Breivik," Breivik lawyer Tord Jordet has told the Norwegian paper.
According to Jordet, many people who have never met with Breivik before have expressed their wishes to visit the notorious murderer in prison.
The permission will also open the way for Breivik's first interviews with the media since he killed 77 people last July.
