Monday, 9 January 2012More than 78 percent of prospective voters are ready to vote at the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, Research Association Project Director at the Institute for Democracy Yulia Kuchinsky said a press conference in Astana.
She said the second poll on election sentiment of the Kazakh citizens was held on Jan.4-6. It was attended by 1,500 respondents. According to the survey, the level of election sentiment during the period of political parties' campaign increased and now hits 78.3 percent.
When the respondents were asked whether they will participate in the voting at the elections, 69.3 percent of respondents answered yes, while another 10 percent said they are likely to take part in it.
Thus, according to Kuchinsky, over the campaign period the population's electoral activity increased by 8.6 percent.
Rating of political parties has also changed. When the respondents were asked whether to which party they will vote for they answered as follows: "Nur Otan" - 80.1 percent, "Akjol" - 7.3 percent, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan - 7.1 percent, Nationwide Social Democratic Party - 1.9 percent, "Adilet" - 1.3 percent, Party of Patriots -0.8 percent, as well as "Aul" - 0.5 percent.
One percent of the respondents have not yet decided on their choice.
Within the last survey, the respondents were also asked: "Do you think that Kazakhstan is developing in the right or wrong direction?" According to the results of the survey, 97 percent of respondents believe that Kazakhstan is developing in the right direction, 85 percent of whom responded that the country is developing "definitely in the right", while another 12 percent said "probably in the right direction".
