Afghanistan to Open Embassy in Greece, Scrap Bulgaria Mission |

Monday, 9 January 2012Afghanistan will open a new embassy in Greece within the next few months, announced the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sunday.
The new embassy is set to assist the tens of thousands of illegal Afghani emigrants and refugees in Greece, said a Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
At the same time, the already-existing Afghanistan embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria, is set to be closed.
Changes are to become effective end of March, according to the government spokesperson.
According to the Afghani government, some 50,000 Afghan citizens arrive to Greece each year, looking for a better life in Europe.
Thursday Bulgaria sent off its 22nd contingent, composed of 170 soldiers, to take part in the International Security Assistance Force, (ISAF) in Afghanistan. |
