ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Friday issues arrest of former Chief of General Staff Ilker Basbug, National Intelligence Organization Undersectary Hakan Fidan's remarks and some other issues.

All papers published stories about arrest of Basbug in their Friday issues. Milliyet daily headlined "And Basbug Arrested" and said that his arrest marked a first in the Turkish history. Hurriyet wrote that Basbug testified to prosecutors on Thursday for 7 hours as a suspect as part of anti-government website probe, stating that later he was arrested on charges of leading a terrorist organization. Milliyet paper quoted Basbug as saying: "I deny charges. I was commander of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). Being accused of establishing a gang is the biggest punishment for me."

Almost all papers wrote about National Intelligence Organization Undersecretary Hakan Fidan's remarks at the 85th foundation anniversary of MIT. Sabah daily quoted Fidan that MIT aimed to be one of the 10 largest intelligence organizations in the world within next 2-3 years, and MIT has been restructured with respect to domestic and international intelligence.

Vatan and Cumhuriyet dailies said that MIT denied having shared any intelligence with the General Staff ahead of air strike on Uludere.

Zaman paper wrote about Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's remarks on board the plane en route to Iran and quoted him as saying that they were concerned about tension in the Middle East and what's happening in Syria was struggle for democracy.
