Bulgaria Sends 22nd Contingent to Afghanistan

The 22nd contingent of Bulgarian Armed Forces, which is participating in the operation of International Security Assistance Force, (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan, is going to be sent off with an official ceremony Thursday.

It will be held at 11:00 am on the central square in the second largest city of Plovdiv.

The composition of the contingent includes national component, staff officers, medical teams and the sixth company for action in the security zone of Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.

The company is composed of about 170 soldiers. Over 50% of its staff had already been involved in a mission abroad. The company's Commander is Major Bozhidar Boykov from military unit 32990 - Plovdiv.
