President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on Friday to provide additional tax benefits and preferences for the further development of the media.

According to the decree published in the official media, from January 1, 2012 delivery services of the media and books are exempt from value added tax.

In addition, since the new year limiting the annual average number of employees in the designation of editorial offices, publishers and printers to the category of small enterprises increased from 50 to 100 people.

On the same date the rate of single tax payment for editorial offices, publishing houses, printing organizations, broadcasters, relating to micro and small enterprises has been reduced from six to five per cent.

Amount of mandatory contributions publishing and printing organizations in the fund "Izhod" at the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan from the sale of printed products, the provision of editorial services, printing and publishing services has been reduced from two to one percent.

Rate flat tax for individual entrepreneurs who specialize in the retail sale of newspapers, magazines and books, on average, reduced by half.

For a period of five years is exempt from income tax and tax on improvement and development of social infrastructure profits earned media and publishing editions of the implementation of socio-political and children's literature, literature for persons with disabilities (blind, deaf and others).

Editorial, publishing and printing are also valid for five years are exempt from mandatory contributions to the Republican Road Fund and reconstruction, refurbishment and equipping of educational and medical institutions under the Ministry of Finance of the proceeds from the sale of media products, books and services for their replicate.

In addition to the five-year period are exempt from customs duties (except customs duties) paper, printing materials, equipment and vehicles imported editions of the media, publishers, broadcasters and polygraph organizations to produce media products and books (on a list approved by the Cabinet of Ministers) .

Control over execution of decisions entrusted to the Prime Minister Shaukat Mirziyoyev.

The document stresses that these measures are aimed at creating favorable conditions and prerequisites for further development of mass media, publishing houses, printing companies and organizations for the dissemination of press, independent media, strengthening their role in the development of information society and the establishment of public control over the activities of state power and control.
