The United States has confirmed the $30 billion sale of new fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.

The White House said the deal included 84 new Boeing F-15s and upgrades to 70 existing aircraft as well as munitions, spare parts, training, maintenance, and logistics.

The agreement is part of a $60 billion arms deal approved by the U.S. Congress last year.

The sale comes at a time when Washington is working to counter Iran’s influence in the region.
