Thursday, 29 December 2011ANKARA (A.A) - Turkey expressed pleasure over the democratic elections which took place in Cote D'ivoire.
Turkish Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said, "in accordance with the great importance we attach to developing our relations with Cote D'ivoire in the framework of our policy of opening up to Africa, we welcome the conduct of the parliamentary elections on December 11, 2011 in a peaceful and secure environment in line with democratic rules."
"We believe that these elections constitute an important milestone in the strengthening of stability and democracy in Cote D'ivoire by overcoming the difficult period in the aftermath of the Presidential Elections on December 16, 2010," it said.
The ministry noted, "it is our conviction that the use of the right to elect and be elected by all the Ivorian citizens as one of the basic democratic rights will play an indispensable role in building peace and stability in the country and we have no doubt that the new government to be established following the general elections will resolutely continue the efforts to further the national reconciliation process in Cote D'ivoire." |
