USAK Delegation Completed Its Visit to the United States

An USAK delegation met with America's leading think tanks and regional experts in Washington. USAK Vice Chairman Mehmet Tiras and Middle East expert Osman Bahadir Dincer completed their meetings with experts and colleagues from different think tanks, academicians from different universities, and officials. In addition to discussions regarding prominent developments on the agenda, round table meetings were organized. Different agencies including the Brookings Institute, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA), and Atlantic Council were interviewed. Some of the names with which exchanges of views have been made are: Ambassador Ross Wilson, Steven Cook, Ted Piccone, Bülent Ali Rýza, Andrew Tabler, Carole O'Leary, Michele Dunne, Ambassador Micheal Lemmon, Soner Cagaptay, Robert Satloff, Patrick Clawson, and David Pollack.

Within the scope of the visit to Washington, a general assessment of situation was also made with officials from the Turkish Embassy and U.S. Department of State. Especially in light of recent developments in in the Arab world, Turkish-American relations, Syria's status, and the future of Iraq were discussed in the meetings. In addition, potential cooperation with the mentioned institutions was discussed in detail.
