Switzerland to Invest in Tajikistan’s Water Supply System

Switzerland will invest $12.3 million in the development of water supply system of Tajikistan's northern cities, Asia Plus reported on Monday.

The two counties' governments signed a grant agreement in this regard on Friday. It was undersigned by Peter Mikula, the Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan and Safarali Najmiddinov, Tajik Finance Minister.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) co-finances the project by issuing $10 million loan to Tajikistan.

The program of water supply development covers Karayrakkum, Kanibadam, Isfara, Gafurov, Taboshar, Chkalovsk and Khorog cities.

Najmiddinov said this project will help to improve the citizens' access for drinking water.
