The death toll in floods and landslides triggered by a tropical storm in the southern Philippines has increased to 180, military and civil defence officials said Saturday, DPA reported.

Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang, a regional military spokesman, said rescuers have retrieved a total of 75 bodies from the southern city of Iligan.

The military earlier reported that soldiers recovered 97 bodies from Cagayan de Oro City.

Five more died in landslides in Monkayo town in Compostella Valley province, while three drowned in Polanco town in Zamboanga del Norte province.
