Turkmenistan Begins Pilot Population Census

Turkmenistan has launched the preparations for the pilot population census, to be held in all regions of the country on Dec.15-26, Turkmen State Statistics Committee said.

The local statistics agencies are working on census zoning - administrative and territorial units are divided into counting and instructional areas, census divisions. In total 42 counting, 6 instructor stations and 6 census divisions will be created in Turkmenistan for pilot population census.

The purpose of the pilot census is to inspect projects of organizational and programmatic and methodological provisions of the forthcoming complete census of population and housing fund of Turkmenistan, which will be held in 2012, as well as testing software for census data processing.
