Friday, 9 December 2011DOHA (A.A) - The fourth summit of the Alliance of Civilizations will take place in the Qatari capital of Doha between December 11 and 13.
More than 2,500 dignitaries from 130 countries will attend the summit that will take place to reduce clashes among civilizations and cultures and increase tolerance, dialogue and cooperation.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will attend the inauguration of the summit.
Turkey will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay and an accompanying delegation.
The first Alliance of Civilizations Forum took place in Madrid, Spain in 2008, the second in Istanbul in 2009 and the third in Brazil in 2010.
The Alliance of Civilizations initiative was established under the auspices of the United Nations in 2005 with the leadership of Spain and Turkey.
The initiative primarily tries to reduce tension between the Islamic world and the West. |
