Thursday, 8 December 2011ANKARA (A.A) - Turkey's science, industry and technology minister said on Thursday that Turkey had reached the highest production figure since 2005.
Nihat Ergun said an annual rise like 7.3 percent indicated Turkey's production aspiration.
"With these figures, we have reached the highest production figure since 2005 (when the industrial production index was changed)," Ergun told AA correspondent in Ankara.
Ergun's remarks came after Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, made public industrial production index. The index was up in Turkey 7.3 percent year-on-year in October, the country's statistics authority said.
TurkStat said that in the sub sectors level of industry; mining sector increased 8.6 percent, manufacturing sector index increased 7 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased 9.4 percent.
Calendar adjusted production index in October 2011 increased 7.3 percent when compared to the same month of 2010, and seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index was up 4.4 percent when compared to September 2011.
Minister Ergun said the index was above market expectations, which were 4 percent, adding that Turkey had become a producing country.
