ANKARA (A.A) - The World Economic Forum on Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia will take place in Istanbul, Turkey on June 4 and 6, 2012.

The World Economic Forum will convene over 1,000 leaders in Istanbul to catalyse new partnerships for growth and human development.

Speaking to AA correspondent, Stephen Kinnock, director and head of Europe and Central Asia at the World Economic Forum, said that Turkey, which was a country of prosperity and tranquility, was very suitable to host this meeting.

Answering a question on Turkey's economy, Kinnock said Turkey showed a great economic performance in the recent years, stating that its economy grew by 8-10 percent.

Turkey has been playing an important role regionally and globally, he added.
