The governments of Bulgaria and India signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of healthcare in New Delhi on Monday.

The agreement was inked by Bulgarian Health Minister Stefan Konstantinov and his Indian counterpart Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is also in charge of his country's family welfare.

A wide array of issues was covered by the newly signed agreement, including the general healthcare services in the two countries, prevention, medical education and research, medical tourism and medical legislation.

The newly signed agreement foresees an exchange of experts between Bulgaria and India in bilateral and international forums.

Konstantinov and Azad were unanimous that the agreement marks the beginning of a new stage in Bulgaria and India's cooperation in the fields of healthcare and medicine.

Bulgarian Parliamentary Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva was also present at the signing ceremony on Monday.
