Banking Sector's Total Assets up by 20.6 pct

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish banking sector's total assets were up by 20.6 percent to 1,214 billion Turkish lira (TL) year-on-year in the first nine months of 2011, Turkey's banking regulation board said on Thursday. (One USD equals 1.78 TL)

According to the data by Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) of Turkey, the banking sector grew by 3.9 percent in Q1, 9.5 percent in Q2 and 5.9 percent and Q3 of 2011.

Total credits rose by 25.8% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2011.

Net profit of the banking sector decreased to 14,620 million TL as of September 2011.
