Arab Spring" Hurts Turkey's Exports Of Cement

The "Arab Spring" taking place in Arabic countries have had a negative impact on Turkey's exports of cement in the first half of 2011.
Turkey's exports of cement went down 27 percent in the first half of 2011 when compared to the same period last year.
Cement production in Turkey went up 1.11 percent in the first half of 2011 when compared to the same term last year and reached 30,624,205 tonnes. Out of this figure, 24.7 million tonnes were sold in Turkey.
Turkey's exports of cement in the first half of 2011 was recorded as 5.9 million tonnes.
Domestic sale of cement went up 11.6 percent in the first half of 2011 when compared to the same term last year.
The Turkish region in which cement sales went up most in the first half of 2011 was the Mediterranean region with an increase of 19 percent.
