Bulgaria is an important partner of Georgia and is seen as the shortest way the country can reach the EU, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has declared after meeting with Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov.

"Our two countries are very much alike – we have gone through similar experiences, we have similar problems and I am convinced that we could work in collaboration and help each other. I admire the reforms the Bulgarian government is carrying out," Saakashvili has stated.

"Georgia is an important partner for us and we could improve our cooperation in terms of trade. The two countries have a strategic geographical location," Bulgaria's Prime Minister declared.

Borisov pointed out that his cabinet's Economy and Enegry Minister Traicho Traikov had a very productive visit to Georgia earlier in September.

Saakashvili and Borisov met during the Eastern Partnership summit in Warsaw.
