Thursday, 8 September 2011The major reason why solidarity is hampered among Azerbaijani journalists is the politicization of the media, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council Aflatun Amashov said.
"One of the reasons of the press politicization is its financial problems," he said. "When the Azerbaijani press is able to meet its financial needs through sales and advertising, Azerbaijani journalists will be more solidary. Of course, this does not mean that they are not solidary. The Azerbaijani press demonstrates a common position in international affairs."
He said that one of the Azerbaijani Press Council's main challenges is the consolidation of journalists.
