A conference will be held on combating smuggling of nuclear weapon parts in Tbilisi on Wednesday, with contribution from the U.S. As the U.S. Embassy in Georgia told Trend, the conference will be held at the Hotel "Betsy" with participation from the Deputy U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Bridget Brink and Director of the Department on Euro-Atlantic integration Nikoloz Rtveliashvili.
The conference will discuss a document that Georgia and the U.S. signed on joint combat against nuclear smuggling. The sides will receive exhaustive information about the opportunities incorporated into the document and the implementation of feasible programs in this area.
The conference will focus on attracting funds from international donors for specific projects to combat nuclear smuggling.
As the U.S. Embassy stressed, it has already been agreed that funding would be provided by Sweden, UK and USA to implement these five projects.
"These projects will help Georgia to prevent all possible hazards which could result from the export of nuclear components," the U.S. Embassy in Georgia said. |
