The Court of First Instance of Yerevan’s Nork-Marash and Kentron administrative districts ruled late on Friday to use detention as a measure of restraint in relation of three young opposition activists, Tert. am reported.

The court ruled that Sargis Gevorgyan, Tigran Arakelyan and Artak Karapetyan be kept under detention for two months, while Vahagn Harutyunyan was released from the courtroom on parole.

The young activists of the opposition Armenian National Congress (or HAK) were brought to the Kentron Police Station and later arrested after they had been involved in a bickering with the officers of State Guarding Service near the Opera House on August 9.

Three other activists - Areg Gevorgyan, Davit Kiramijyan and Sahak Muradyan had been released earlier on Friday.

It comes after the HAK took part in three rounds of dialogue with a delegation representing Armenia’s ruling coalition with the HAK demanding to hold snap elections.

Opposition activists have already condemned the incident, but it is not clear how it will affect the dialogue, if so.
