There are three popular places among tourists in Georgia’s Shida Kartli region: Uplistsikhe, Ateni Sioni and Stalin’s house-museum.

According to Natalia Berianidze, the head of tourism information center which is located in Gori, most tourists are very much interested in nature, castles and house museums in Shida Kartli. The Stalin museum is of particular interest.

Stalin’s house-museum director Robert Maglakelidze said many tourists visit mostly this object. "We have formalized an agreement with 24 international travel agencies. Our guests represent 130 countries. Only this year 10,000 tourists visited the museum, which is by 2,000 more than the same period of last year," he said.

About 10,000 visitors visited the Stalin Museum in Georgia this year, 80 percent of visitors to the house-museum of Stalin are foreigners. They are mostly tourists from Israel, which is followed by the United States, UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. There were even tourists from Rwanda and Chad.
