Saturday, 30 July 2011European Parliament's Turkey rapporteur Ria Oomen-Ruijten said on Friday that Turkey was getting more democratic day by day after the commanders of Turkish land, naval and air forces have tendered their retirements letters.
Oomen-Ruijten released a brief statement and said that Turkey was becoming a more democratic country where democratic institutions had control over military decisions.
Land Forces Codmmander Gen. Erdal Ceylanoglu, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Esref Ugur Yigit and Air Forces Commander Hasan Aksay sent their retirement letters on Friday.
Earlier in the day, General Staff Chief Gen. Isik Kosaner tendered his retirement letter to the Prime Ministry Office.
