There are approximately 5,500 think-tank organizations around the world, of whic almost 3,000 are based in the United States. Think-tanks play an active role not only in formulating political strategies and aligning public opinions with domestic politics, but also in the decision-makink process. This feature of think tanks is expecially prominent in Anglo-Saxon countries. The mission of these foundadions may vary in terms of their objectives. For insteance, some may try to defend public opinion while others try to shape them. Depending on the circumstances, these organizations may also focus on providing training and consultancy services. Think tanks exist in different sizes and deal in a variety of subjects. ..
